U8 Rules
U8 teams will play 6 v 6 including a goal keeper.
U8 teams will use a size 3 ball. A size 4 ball is allowable in case a size 3 ball is not available.
In case a team has no more than 7 players present at a game, the game format may be reduced to 5 v 5 including a goalie with the agreement of both coaches.
If a team is short of players, the team may borrow players from the opposing team with the permission of the opposing coach.
Each game will have 4 quarters of 12 minutes duration each. There will be a 3 minute break between the first and the second quarter and the third and the fourth quarter. The half-time break between the second and third quarter will be five minutes.
There will be no offside calls.
There will be a penalty area and a goal area.
The goal area extends 3 yards from the outside of the goal posts and 3 yards into the field.
The penalty area extends 6 yards from the outside of the goal posts and 6 yards into the field.
All free kicks will be direct. Opposing team members must stay at least 4 yards from the position the free kick is taken.
No penalty kicks will be awarded. If a infraction occurs inside the goal box and a free kick is awarded to the offensive team, then the free kick must be taken 3 yards from the goal line closest to the point where the infraction occurred. Opposing team members must stay at least 4 yards from the position the kick is taken from, or stay on the goal line.
Unlimited substitutions are allowed at throw-ins, goal kicks, corner kicks, during stoppage for injury and at any restart of the game.
